Zach's Story
My name is Zachary Keenan and I am a professional surfer from Cardiff, California, in North San Diego County. As a professional athlete, I am extremely aware of the importance diet and lifestyle can have on health, physical fitness, and happiness. I am currently on a raw food vegan diet (organic whenever possible) coupled with a daily yoga routine that helps me to stay healthy, light, and full of energy. Including Manitoba Harvest’s various hemp food products into my daily diet has been the best addition to my overall nutrition and well-being. The hemp products are not only delicious, but provide the critical proteins and essential fatty acids necessary for a healthy vegan diet. When at home, I usually start my day drinking water and practicing yoga, and then head out for a morning surf. When I come back for my mid-morning meal, I mix up a hemp-powered Acai smoothie for nourishment. When I include Manitoba Harvest Hemp Protein Powder into my smoothies, not only does it provide me with all of the amazing health benefits of hemp, but I also feel a more sustained and consistent level of energy. This sustained level of energy is extremely important during long days of competition, extended surf sessions, or photo shoots. Along with the health benefits, I also really enjoy the taste and texture of the Hemp Protein Powder, making my smoothies turn from a healthy drink into a hearty and wholesome, and great tasting meal. The complete protein and essential fatty acids that Manitoba Harvest’s hemp products provide allow me to meet the nutritional requirements of my raw food vegan diet, while providing me the ability to perform at the top of my game. In the evenings, I usually mix up Manitoba Harvest Organic Hemp Seed Oil combined with apple cider vinegar and avocado for a delicious salad dressing, on a base of organic greens and spinach. I then include a portion of Hemp Seed Nut (shelled hemp seed), which adds an amazing nutty flavor to the salad. When I am traveling, it is often difficult to have a consistent and reliable form of vegetarian protein in my diet. But Manitoba Harvest hemp food products are the solution, helping me to maintain a consistent daily intake of protein and EFAs, and allowing me to maximize my surfing potential. While traveling abroad, I really enjoy having the Hemp Seed Nut along with me for a critical snack to keep my energy up and sustain me through long days, whether at a competition or on a photo trip.
Along with being a professional surfer, I recently graduated from the University of California at Santa Cruz with Honors in Environmental Studies. I received the Dean’s Undergraduate Award for the Division of Social Sciences. While studying for my degree, I learned a great deal about the importance of sustainable agriculture and agroecology, it re-emphasized the importance of organically grown produce in today’s world. I seriously respect and am extremely impressed with Manitoba Harvest’s commitment to organic production and sustainability. It is with this respect and admiration for the excellent work Manitoba Harvest is doing that I am proud to support a company that is committed to producing such a beneficial and sustainable product. Hemp is one of the most valuable renewable resources Nature has provided for our use, and Manitoba Harvest is doing their part to make its amazing benefits available for everyone, while simultaneously caring for the Earth and its health. I know that hemp holds incredible potential for the future, and Manitoba Harvest’s integrity and commitment in its production will help to share this positive energy with the world. Take care of your health and the planet‚s health by including some of these amazing hemp products in your daily diet, and discover their incredible benefits for yourself!
