Well…sort of. There can be a lot of high expectations that come along with celebrating with friends and family this season, especially if you’re the one hosting. Luckily, CBD knows a thing or two about holiday-time pressure.
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a phytocompound (phyto means it comes from a plant!) that interacts naturally with our body’s Endocannabinoid System (ECS). Your ECS plays a critical role in a lot of whole body regulations – mood, physical sensation, and appetite, for example – and also corresponds to managing emotional reactions.
“Managing emotional reactions” sounds like it belongs at the top of your extremely long holidays to-do list. So what are some easy and relaxing ways you can incorporate CBD this season to help you be the best version of you?
CBD + Chamomile Tea
You may need coffee to get through the busy days, but you deserve to treat yourself to a relaxing, calming drink at the end of the day to help wind down. Many people enjoy chamomile tea for its ability to help calm the mind and promote relaxation – a lot of the same reasons people love CBD! Steep a bag or two of chamomile tea for 4 minutes in hot water, then add some Broad Spectrum Hemp Extract with CBD – unflavored or peppermint, either would be great!
Remember: if CBD isn’t yet a regular part of your wellness routine and you’re not sure how much to take, then start “low and slow” – a dropper or two – and take note of how you feel. You can always adjust up or down depending on what your body needs.
Be the Host with the Most
Everybody will RSVP “yes” to your holiday get-together when you tell them you’ll be serving a CBD-infused beverage. Basically, the only limit to the kinds of festive drinks you can infuse with CBD is your imagination - get creative and go wild. Our personal favorite is adding unflavored CBD oil drops to what is already a relaxing and cozy winter drink – mulled cider!
Mulled cider is the perfect holiday party drink because it looks fancy but is deceptively simple. Easy! Here’s our favorite basic:
1 bottle your favorite apple cider
1 orange, sliced into rounds (save some for garnish)
6 whole cloves
3 cinnamon sticks (also for garnish)
3 star anise
¼ c. honey
Heat all the ingredients in a sauce pan over medium heat. Don’t let it boil, just bring it to a simmer, then simmer on low for 10 minutes. Serve warm with more orange slices and cinnamon sticks!
Looking for a richer option for serving? We've got you covered. A pitcher of non-dairy eggnog prepped the day prior is easy to garnish and serve.
2 1/4 cups unsweetened almond milk
1 can full-fat coconut milk
1/3 cup maple syrup or honey
4 large egg yolks
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg, plus more for serving
1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
Blend all ingredients in a food processor or blender until frothy, then refrigerate until chilled. The combo of vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice is the essence of holiday flavor. Garnish a glass with freshly grated nutmeg.
Give the Gift of CBD
Many of us CBD fans have had the same conversation time and time again: “What is CBD? What can it do for me? Where do I get it?” Your friends are curious, your family is curious, why not share the love and gift some CBD this season? Peppermint Oil Drops or Peppermint Sprays make perfect stocking stuffers, and don’t forget the Broad Spectrum Hemp Extract Plant Protein Blend with CBD for your smoothie-obsessed friend!
Do you find yourself dreaming longingly of your inviting bath tub as you sprint around the house cooking meals and wrapping presents? Carve some time out at the end of the day for a little you time. It’s super easy to whip up a DIY bath soak, and nothing says mmmm, yep, I’m chill now like lavender and peppermint. Preface bath time with some peppermint CBD oil - 30 minutes to an hour before you settle in, take a dropper or two (or four sprays if you prefer oil sprays to droppers), and your body and brain will be settled, at ease, and ready to maximize your soaking session. Try a simple bath soak recipe – make large batches and store for later use if you want!
2 cups regular Epsom salts (you can easily find bags of it at a grocery or drug store!)
5-7 drops lavender essential oil
5-7 drops peppermint essential oil
2 tbsp baking soda
Epsom salts – which break down into magnesium and sulfate in water – soak into your skin and help relax muscles and loosen stiff joints. Similarly, peppermint and lavender are naturally occurring terpenes that smell great and have relaxing properties. Along with the CBD you enjoyed, you’ve got the perfect recipe for relaxation!
Remember: you deserve to have a happy, healthy, and balanced holiday season too. It’s important for you to care for yourself as much as you care for your loved ones around you. Manitoba Harvest wants to help you make the best of the holidays and prepare for a fresh, productive new year!
